Re:View Contemporary is pleased to present our first solo exhibit of 2015, ARE YOU A MAN, Matthew Zacharias’ latest body of work exploring themes of identity through mixed media, film, and video.
In this new work, Zacharias combines fragments of fiction and autobiographical elements to forge stories, character studies, and a collage work of memory that blend fictional characters with photographs and glass etchings of real family members—these components come together as reality and historical truth.
The exhibit will extend through both gallery spaces and opens with a reception on Saturday, January 17, from 6 pm to 9 pm, and runs through Saturday, February 28.
Matthew Zacharias received a Liberal Arts degree in Film from the University of Michigan. After producing a few short films, Zacharias’ interest in film and video projects migrated to photography, print and design. In 1996, Zacharias joined the art collective AWOL and co-produced multimedia works that premiered at art galleries around the country.
