END Studio is a Detroit-based design / research practice founded by Elise DeChard that explores the possibilities inherent in our cities and the use of playful and subversive techniques to transcend the traditional urban experience. From historic renovations to adaptive reuse, art installations to custom furniture, our work aims to creatively rethink space and materials, striving towards a more human architecture enlivened by textural allure, interactivity, and ephemerality.
Elise received her Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She currently teaches at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids.
FPB Studio is a design, build, and fabrication studio founded by Fernando Bales that specializes in residential projects, small commercial spaces, and custom installations. Our team thinks with both their heads and their hands, mixing thoughtful design with practical solutions, without sacrificing beauty. Every step of the design process, from ideation to fabrication, happens under one roof. This creates an efficient process and peace of mind for our clients.
Fernando holds a Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and is a Professor of Practice at Lawrence Technological University.
Working together, the studios have designed and built projects ranging from art installations to custom furniture to commercial and residential renovations and additions across the Metro Detroit area. Their recent installation “Picnic, A Spatial Feast” presented by Simone DeSousa EDITION was featured in Architectural Digest and The Architect’s Newspaper as a highlight of Detroit’s 2018 Month of Design. Their installation at Third Man Records was the first prize winner in the Holiday Window Walk 2018 Competition sponsored by the Detroit Center for Design and Technology and was featured on FOX2 Detroit News and Curbed
