Born and raised on the Jersey shoreline, Victoria Ashley Shaheen is an artist living and working in Detroit, MI. She attended the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington DC for her BFA and graduated from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills with her MFA in Ceramics in 2013. Her work uses commodity culture, image saturation and the history of decorative arts and design to create contemporary environments that deconstruct hierarchies, expose absurdity in social systems, and simply make people laugh. Currently she teaches in the Fine Art Department of Wayne State University.
