Statement from Tai:
One quick read of the work is that it’s a flat pun on purchasing power, that equates the purchase of an edition to supporting the gallery. The work has all the bells and whistles of a total package and even reveals the hidden modes of production. This work also continues conversations that Simone and I often have that consider the relationship between the gallery and its context (Detroit), and in accordance with our own values. Like my Brixels project, I strived to come up with something that could be simple and beautiful, and that lined with a personal philosophy/reflection on the commodification of art, artists, and the cultural production of the city.
The Editions in this series vary slightly in shape.
